Body & finish
The Prado body style is modern and pleasing with a design which is so much like the Pajero it is very easy to wrongly identify it at first glance. The standard of finish on the body panels and paint work is in keeping with Toyota's usual high standard and could be described as an overkill for an off-road style of vehicle.
Corrosion resistant steel is used extensively throughout the body structure with galvanised sheeting used on the high risk corrosion areas including the dash panel, floor panels, bonnet, doors and guards. Wax and sealer is applied to all folded panel sections to increase the protection in those areas. As a further measure of protection, PVC coating has been applied to the underside of the body as well as the fender apron and other underbody areas subjected to flying stones etc.
Toyota boasts a high recyclable content for its major plastic components with all recyclable items coded to assist in identification.
